Five exercises to keep your body toned during lockdown

With the UK going into a complete lockdown, people are not allowed to go out without respectable reason for at least three weeks.

This means no more long walks in the park with friends or group jogging. Despite that, even when you’re stuck at home, you should keep your fitness levels active and stay energised.

Suggested by the NHS and health and fitness experts, here are 5 exercises that will help you keep your body toned.

Push-ups.–They are great for building upper body strength, burning calories, increasing mental toughness and instilling confidence. By doing push-ups, every muscle in your body works, which makes them stronger. If you’re not a big fan of exercise and gym, doing only push-ups regularly can help your body stay toned and fit. The recommended amount per day: 2 sets of 15 repetitions.

Squats – Do these to strengthen your core, reduce the risk of injuries, burn calories, boost athletic ability, help improve flexibility and strengthen your lungs and heart. The recommended amount per day: 2 sets of 15 to 24 reps.

Lunge – They strengthen your lower body and tone your muscles. Lunges are effective for strengthening your legs and buttocks. They boost your metabolism and help you lose weight much faster. They also improve your balance and coordination. The recommended amount per day: 1 set of 15 to 24 reps with each leg.

Stomach crunches–Great for toning the core muscles of the body and promoting good posture. They also increase the mobility and flexibility of the muscles. Experts say that crunches are better than full sit-ups and can build endurance in the abdominal region. Unlike the push-up, crunches have to be combined with other exercises for best results. The recommended amount per day: 2 sets of 15 to 24 reps.

Back rise–It increases your ability to coordinate movement through your lower back. It strengthens your back and increases endurance. It leads to better back posture, and it prevents injuries. The recommended amount per day: 2 sets of 15 to 24 reps.

Do these exercises every day during self-isolation, and your body will feel toned and energetic. Follow the recommended amounts by the NHS for best results. The whole workout should take less than 10 minutes and it’s a good way to keep your body fit too.

All the exercises mentioned above are calorie and fat burners, which makes them even more important, especially now during self-isolation, as we are constantly at home and we are perhaps eating and sitting more. For best, results combine these exercises with a healthy, balanced diet and see an almost immediate body change.
