Coronavirus has caused disruption and devastation all around the world but some of the world’s largest fashion brands are fighting back. Supporting the effects that this invisible virus has caused. Despite the challenging issues the fashion industry is facing from the crisis, with stores closing and going into administration and thousands of people losing their jobs, here’s what the brands are doing to help.

Burberry

The British brand have not only supplied 100,000 masks to NHS workers but they’ve also funded a vaccine which is currently being created by University of Oxford.

The Burberry foundation was made with the aim to use creativity to create a positive change to communities and a sustainable future. To fight against Covid-19 the foundation has set up a Go Fund Me page to raise £100,000 worth of donations towards PPE, medical equipment for the key workers on the frontline and money towards foodbanks and healthcare charities.

A Sales Associate for Burberry, Phoebe Elliott said: “I am proud to be working for Burberry at times like these. Knowing one of the most well-known brands isn’t just supportive to their workers but also to the NHS and charities around the UK, who are doing so much during this time.”

John Lewis

John Lewis have been kindly donating items to make NHS staff feel more at home on their break times by giving away eye masks, pillows, chargers and sweet treats for some much-needed TLC.

Shoe company, Kurt Geiger has offered NHS staff 50% off for the whole year and distributing £100 gift vouchers to local hospitals for staff to spend on their down-time. They have even created ‘we are one’ tote bags, where all the profits made from the bag will be donated back to the NHS.

Although all Geiger stores are closed due to the virus, they’re giving staff full pay and encouraging them to volunteer to their local communities affected by the coronavirus.

Former Kurt Geiger employee, Tayla said: “I worked for Kurt Geiger for years and really admire what they are doing to fight against the coronavirus. My mum is a key worker, so I see how it effects the people on the front line and the little things that they’re doing probably make such a difference.”

Mango

The Mango chain was started in one of the many countries that have been hit the hardest by the effects of the coronavirus, Spain. The chain has donated 2 million masks to hospitals in Spain and has created thousands of protective gowns for healthcare staff.

High street shopper, Stephanie Bignell said: “Seeing what all these companies are doing for covid-19 is incredible and I feel I will twice as likely to shop and spend my money in these stores once this is all over. Knowing how they contributed to the world when we need to one another more than ever.”

Many brands are even doing large discounts for NHS and Key Workers to thank them for all their hard work on the frontline. By donating, making and creating these brands have helped support those in need.
