Most of us girls have lost hope in our nails, our eyebrows, our eyelashes and basically all things beauty during this quarantine. Research shows that the average British woman spends £140,000 on hair and cosmetics inher lifetime. So, what better time to go back to basics and learn to appreciate your beautiful self?
Let your skin breathe
A lot of us ladies don’t feel comfortable showing our natural beauty although we appreciate that it can make some of us feel more confident. However, this is the perfect time to learn how to embrace what we have been blessed with.
According to Revere Health, some of the unwanted effects of makeup can leave us with, clogged pores, dry or oily skin, and even premature ageing. So, if that doesn’t put you off taking a much-needed break, then we don’t know what will!
Instead, take up a healthy skincare routine that will do wonders for your skin. Not only will you feel rejuvenated, but, your skin will be ready for all the makeup you want to dab on once quarantine comes to an end.
Emilia Dagilyte, secondary school student, 16 says: “I’ve developed a new skincare routine which has allowed me to embrace my natural beauty and I love it!”
Depending on your skin type, we recommend you invest in fragrance-free skincare products. If you are feeling lost amongst the countless skincare brands, the Clinique 3-step introduction kit is a great place to start.
- Cleanser – Removes excess oil, bacteria, and any dead cells
- Toner – Balances out skin pH levels, evens out skin tone, and prevents skin impurities
- Moisturiser – Prevents premature ageing, nourishes the skin and keeps you glowing

No more heat
So many of us (guys included) like to blow-dry, curl and straighten our hair. Sometimes even on a daily basis. Do you know what that can do to your tresses, whether they are short or long?
Sorry to break it to you but, heat damage can alter your hair strands and leave it looking dull, which cannot be undone unless of course, you chop the damaged bits off. This is the time to treat your hair with love and care that it needs with a deeply conditioning hair mask.
Or if you’re feeling a little creative and maybe even bored during this quarantine, take up a DIY project and make your own mask! An avocado, olive oil and egg mask will do wonders for heat-damaged hair.

Give your eyebrows a much-needed break
Aren’t you tired of plucking, waxing, threading or whichever method you use to shape your eyebrows? Well, this is the perfect time to give them a break. You may find more good comes out of this than harm.
You might be asking yourself how can this be true, when eyebrows give shape to the face. Well, so many of us aren’t blessed with thick or long brows and so this is a great opportunity to let them grow so that you can come out the other side with the brows of your dreams!

Let your nails breathe –
Refinery 29 says that acrylics have gone from the nails of working-class ladies at the salons to the nails of middle-class women. Put simply, acrylic nails are one of the biggest trends of the 21st century. As tempting as it is to put some nail varnish or stick some nails on, now is the time to let them grow out and become stronger.
“I love acrylic nails, but, the one thing that put me off during quarantine is how hard it is to take them off without damaging them,” says 14-year-old student, Soline Tamidi.

You may have realised that quarantine isn’t so bad after all, especially because giving your skin a break is really what it needed for a long time now. Take this opportunity to be your truest most natural self and remember that you are beautiful!
