The Environment Agency released a flood warning earlier this week as flooding continued throughout Holloway Road. Travel throughout TFL has been delayed, affecting Londoners everywhere, due to heavy rain flooding streets, causing traffic around Islington.
“Flood warnings in force for England” was released this morning by the Environment Agency, meaning much of the travel around London will be restricted due to road closures. Londoners have begun changing their travel times to avoid traffic.
Many commuters shared their frustration for the delays.
Home Aestheticist Viktoria Streva, 23, said: “Yes, I noticed travelling this morning there has been a lot more traffic today, caused by the weather.”
Another commuter who wished to remain anonymous said: “I travelled in later at 10 by tube so that it wouldn’t be as busy.”
London Fire Brigade have tweeted to spread awareness of recent flooding and the possible dangers caused by the heavy and persistent rain. Areas surrounding Highbury fields have been subjected to flooding as well, which caused transport delays to Holloway Road Bus services which caused commuting hold-ups for many .
As reported by the BBC, Londoners have been urged to prepare for more flooding due to climate change. As the weekend saw highs of 20 degrees, compared to the week-long rain that has been forecasted.
Travel is likely to improve by next month as the weather clears.
