It’s Veganuary. If your New Year’s resolution is to save money, let’s talk skincare.
It’s no surprise that vegan skincare can cost you, but when done right you can help the environment as well as your piggy bank (no pun intended).
From moisturisers to cleansers, affordable vegan options are easier to find than one might think. Take a trip to your local Boots or Superdrug where you can locate everything you need for your entire skincare routine for less than £20!
One popular brand called The Ordinary, which describes itself as “clinical formulations with integrity”, also prides itself on vegan practises and affordable prices.
The Daily Set available at Boots for just £15 contains a cleanser, moisturiser and hyaluronic acid for guilt-free shopping this Veganuary. Customer reviews online give it 9.4 stars out of ten, saying it “dissolves my make-up effortlessly” and that “my skin feels amazing after using it”.
Sajida Akhtar, 26, of Holloway didn’t even know her skincare is vegan but said that “low-cost products are important to me”. When asked if she’d purposely buy vegan skincare, she said she didn’t know as she sees it all as more of a “trend.”.
It’s clearly not a trend with vegan options available in almost every industry according Marta Canga, vegan influencer.
Canga, a vegan skincare enthusiast, recommends Ren Clean skincare on her Instagram, and many of their products are less than £20 individually. It can be found at Marks and Spencer, among other outlets, and 20 percent off vouchers are available online.
It isn’t hard to find cheap and affective vegan skincare, just pop into your local drugstore, check for a vegan/cruelty-free label, and you will likely find success for less than a few pints at your local. You might not find any calf placentas in your night cream but that’s probably a good thing…
