SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) is one of the most powerful tools used by businesses in the modern technological world. It has proven to not only grow a brand’s visibility but also increase sales and drive traffic to sites.

Eva Mermingi a technical SEO specialist, who works for SEO agency Reddico, explains that “SEO will not only help with driving high-quality traffic to your website, but it will establish a foundation of trust between your customers and your brand.

“By optimizing your website in order to increase your organic visibility, you will also increase your authoritative voice in your field. When your brand becomes authoritative, it will lead to brand trust, which ultimately leads to brand loyalty.”

She explains that companies who don’t use SEO on their websites are missing out on the chance to grow their online presence and revenue, as it can help to achieve a higher ROI (Return of Investment).

Where is SEO heading in the future?

In terms of where SEO could go in the future, there are endless possibilities. Mermingi believes that AI (Artificial Intelligence) with the new RankBrain Google Algorithm update is one of them. She explains “while aiming at AI and how we can make SEO as efficient as possible, I believe that the future of SEO will depend on how SEO professionals will choose to shape it.”

Expanding further, she adds: “RankBrain is a component of Google’s core algorithm which uses machine learning to determine the most relevant results to search engine queries.”

How will this help online businesses?

“I believe AI and automation are the future of SEO in order to create processes as efficiently as possible, in order to create a digital environment where users are being delivered with the best possible results,” Mermingi explains .

By improving the already existing algorithms, the user experience will be improved as it will be updated to be as specific as possible helping customers find exactly what they are looking for.

Emily Holdip, a small fashion designer, who uses SEO on her brand’s website hopes that in the future the marketing tool can continue to expand and evolve further.

She says: “I hope that SEO can continue to bring new consumers to my website to increase my online presence. For me and my business, the best possible outcome would be for the algorithm to continue evolving, helping more and more customers find my website and buy my clothes.”
