Event’s organiser, Symon, was pleased with the outcome and generosity of the public and said the coverage on Syria sparked her to help this charity

“Every month we as a group help out different charities and this month the Hand in Hand for Syria was chosen. We have all read many articles about Syria and watched a lot on the news, having seen so much and with the 15th of March marking the third anniversary since the conflicts began we wanted to help” she said.

The charity, which was established right after the conflicts began, has been helping Syrian civilians by providing aid and resources. With many aid charities not being able to work in Syria due to security restrictions, Hand in Hand for Syria is the only organisation which can reach 90% of the country.

“We had a long check list of stationary, clothes, books, medical equipment, multivitamins and we managed to get everything from that list. We also will be sending a small amount of money which was contributed”. Who said?

Donator Anna Rahman loves the fact that the church is doing something to help the Syrian crisis. “I found out about this event on twitter, when I saw that the church was willing to do something I was a little bit surprised. Surprised in a good way, because I have not really seen or heard churches doing something to help out Muslims, they probably have but I have not heard about it hence why I was a little surprised.”

She continued on to say, “It is a good thing and it is for a good cause, it unites everyone and brings people and communities together, so many people came out and so much was donated”.
