On the 31st of July, all adults are going to be offered the first COVID vaccine dose. This comes after the news of rollout of 17 million people given the jab that had begun in December 2020.
According to Prime Minister Boris Johnson, the programme should go “further and faster”.
But the news of the vaccine programme has left some people feeling uneasy and scared for the future.
Errol Green, 72, unemployed, said: “I believe in natural remedies and not being forced to think about taking the vaccine just because Boris wants to have a good turnout in numbers for the media.”
Nine groups were prioritised to take the first set of vaccines by the end of February, including people between the ages of 16 to 64 with health conditions.
Aaliyah Williamson, 15, student, said: “I do not think it is fair for teenagers like me that have health conditions such as asthma and eczema should be thought of as a priority this quickly because I just feel that this will make me even more ill.”
Studies from Gov.UK show that the number of people who have received the first dose as to date is 371,906.
People will need to get a second dose for maximum protection. The space between doses has been increased to up to 12 weeks, in order to ensure that the maximum number of people are vaccinated.
