It is that time, once again, for people to use their voices. Time for them to choose their leaders in the local elections.
According to the people of Islington, the local elections are very important. They are the way peoples’ can ensure that their voices make a difference, and to choose the people they believe in, who they think will work with their best interests in mind.
“I think it is important to vote,” said Lucy Fields, a 35-year-old sales assistant. “We have to vote if we want the best for our borough. We earned the right for our voices to be heard.”
At the last local elections, the Green Party earned only one seat, the other 47 being taken by the Labour Party. There were no representatives from the Conservative Party. Will this be the Tories’ year, with Brexit right around the corner?

Jim Tomson, 40, an administration worker, thinks that Brexit may affect the local elections. “We want a strong community and right now I am not sure that the Tories will do the job,” he said.
The elections will be held on Thursday, May 3rd, all across the 16 Council wards of the Islington borough.
The results of the local elections are going to be revealed on May 4th and the easiest way to find out if the candidate you were rooting for is elected will be through the Twitter and Facebook feeds of Islington Council.
“By voting I feel part of the community I live in,” said Laura Jacobs, 26, barista.
