Imagine having a natural tan without the sun – thanks to carrot oil

By Paloma Mairone

As we head into spring, our skin can still feel problematic, whether that’s dry skin from cold temperatures, eczema, psoriasis or a phase of adult acne. But beauty addicts take note: there’s no need to invest in an expensive skin care regimen to sort out your skin.

Many beauty specialists know how home methods can improve common skin conditions. Lockdown is a perfect time to start an at-home skincare routine, as it is so important for ageing, acne scaring and dry patches, not to mention showing your skin some self-love.

Believe it or not, there is no better way to sort out your skin woes than with carrot oil. And you don’t even have to be a rabbit to use it. Keep it by your nightstand or somewhere visible, where you won’t forget about it. It has a list of benefits that will literally change your life, and make you glow.

Defence and protection from sunlight

Explained by Dr. Yusra, (an Instagram skin specialist sensation) carrot oil contains strong anti-aging properties, and is great when used in conjunction with your own sunscreen. This is because it is incredibly rich in vitamins A, C and E. Using carrot oil can also add a warm colour to your skin’s complexion for those with paler skin tones.

Sunscreen products “typically include carrot seed oil for its moisturizing benefits, not for its ability to protect against UVA and UVB rays”, says Healthline, which recommends you use the appropriate SPF for your skin.

“Some tanning oils and tanning accelerators list carrot seed oil as an ingredient, but it’s there to moisturize skin, not to protect it from the sun,” Healthline says.

A tanned look, even in winter

It can be tough to look alive in lockdown. But with the lack of sun and inability to go abroad, carrot oil has you covered, giving dull lacklustre skin a darker tone and a glowing radiance.

The linoleic acid within carrot oil is great remedy for sunburn because of its anti-inflammatory influence, also its vitamin E content soothes burns on the skin and restores it.

Use it as a moisturiser

For some, using the right moisturiser can be tricky as not all are adapted to different skin types. Organic carrot oil is suitable for all skin types and hydrates and restores, helping to get rid of those skin blemishes.
