Morven Oliver-Larkin is a young London activist in the fight against food poverty in the community and better development of agriculture policies. She was recently a panellist at the Hungry London debate at London Metropolitan University.

Oliver-Larkin, who graduated from the University of Manchester, is also a self-shooting filmmaker focusing on observational documentary, with a background in visual anthropology.

In her career, she has worked with different communities to develop different campaigns aimed at the well-being of the population and with those who face a situation of precariousness, in cooperation with the Tenants’ Union.

Since January 2020, she has been working together with the London Food Poverty Campaign organization as coordinator to fight food poverty and help families in difficulties. “Food is a fundamental human right and I think collaboration is the key,” she said.

Focus on important issues

With her team and the help of many volunteers, they realize and address many delicate issues such as: climate emergency and nature, good food for all, good food economy, sustainable agriculture and fishing.

They also fight for animal welfare, consumer rights and public health, after the “Brexit effect” has hit communities.

“Providing good services and doing that really well to make sure everybody has what they need to have a good quality of life” is what they strive to achieve, she said.

She believes all resources and food should be redistributed, as should choosing where and what to spend money on.
