Match of the Day commentator and ex footballer Gary Lineker is set to return to Match of the Day after Lineker made a controversial tweet, comparing the language used to launch the UK’s new immigration policies to that of “30’s Germany.”
Following this tweet, the BBC immediately suspended Lineker for the comments he made, which caused an uproar on social media as many people feel he was just exhibiting his right to free speech, and should not be punished for it.
On the other hand, some people feel that the BBC did well in their effort to “punish” Lineker, and a sports presenter should not get political when doing his job.
But what do the residents of Holloway think? Do most agree that Lineker should have the right to free speech, or do locals think he should of just kept his mouth shut?
Local builder, Steve Phillips, 36, said: “I don’t think Lineker should have said that, yeah everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but its better to not say anything sometimes if you don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Other Holloway residents feel differently. Local real estate agent, Debra Morrison , 41, said: “I think it’s great he’s been reinstated, all he did was post his own personal opinion on his own personal social media.”

Another local, Mr Richards, said: “He has limited knowledge on the immigration policies so I think it was appropriate that he was suspended, he should stick to what he knows which is being on TV.”
So it could be said that Holloway is split on whether or not Gary Lineker deserved his Match of the Day spot back. With many public opinions still surfacing, it will be interesting to see what the public think of this a few months down the line.
