The fashionable 24-year-old Arsenal-player Héctor Bellerín once stated that he wants to become a fashion designer when retiring from his football career as a defender, according to The Sun. Several media platforms have noticed the aspiring fashion icon, especially his unusual hipster-style outfits which he wore during the February 2019 London Fashion Week.

Fans, however, have mixed feelings about the outfits the Spanish football-player showed off during Fashion Week, as well as his future plans to change career.

“I actually didn’t know he was into fashion, but I am really impressed with what he puts together and pulls off after what you showed me now. I am very into fashion myself, and think the outfits worn during fashion week are thoroughly put together and really suit him,” said Lina Dauberman, a 26-year-old German marketing student. She was visiting the city with her university.

“I definitely think fashion and football can go hand in hand, as long as you have the interest for it, and considering that you as a famous football player often will be portrayed by the media, dressing well and fashionably is something that will be noticed,” she added.

Lina is not the only one visiting the Emirates stadium this early Tuesday afternoon. Technical consultant Simone Barromei, 32, from Milan was on a business trip to London, having interviews for a future job in the British capital.

“Seeing that lots of football players end up in fashion as either models or brand ambassadors after ending their sports careers, I definitely think fashion and football is very related,” he said.

Different opinions are in the air and not everyone thinks that mixing up sports and fashion is a good idea.

“I don’t personally see the direct connection between football as a sport and fashion as something other than a personal interest. I do however think his outfits look cool, so he might absolutely succeed as a designer,” said Adrien Wassim, a 22-year-old architect student from Toulouse who is a lifelong fan of Arsenal.

Other fans worried about fashion putting an end to the Spanish defenders’ career.

“I think he looks cool, but I wouldn’t wear it myself. I also really hope he won’t stop playing at Arsenal any time soon, as he is an important part of the team,” said Barromei.

Bellerín’s fans agree that if the motivation of the future designer is genuine, he should follow his dreams. And they are excited to see what he might produce in the future.
