Could Liz Truss be the shortest-lived PM ever?

Prime Minister Liz Truss declared earlier this week that she will remain in power until the next general election. But many Holloway Road residents – and even some Tory MPs – are not so sure about that decision.

After several days of chaos, crowned by a tumultuous vote on fracking, Tory MPs kept making u-turns about whether or not to hold a vote of no confidence in Truss, with those who did not vote told they would face “disciplinary action”.

But people in Holloway are more concerned about their own livelihoods, which under Truss’s leadership appear to be more and more uncertain.

“Her choices made the value of the pound go down,” said Kiran Grewall, a student at City and
Islington College.

“Left in shambles”

The Prime Minister’s fiscal reforms has made the public lose interest and trust in the government.
But some Conservative MPs believe that the party should leave her alone, as putting pressure on her it would create instability for the entire country.

“She is not doing any good for the people, however, the country will be left in shambles because
they will have to look for another suitable PM,” said Danielle Laurence, a receptionist at Unite
Students.
