Cat Ripper At Large

Panic is spreading amongst pet owners as latest cat falls victim to the ‘Cat Ripper’. cat

The killer, dubbed the Croydon Cat Ripper or Croydon Cat Killer, has reportedly been killing and mutilating more than 50 animals over the past two years, including foxes and rabbits.

The attacks have taken place all across London and surrounding areas with the latest victim being a five-month-old kitten found in the Archway area of North London on the 13th April.

Body parts removed

It has been reported that the victims have had various parts of their bodies removed, including their paws, tail and head, which suggest that the killer is keeping them as trophies.

Residents are being told to keep their pets indoors as much as possible, especially at night, to ensure the safety of these animals.

One resident, who does not wish to be named, told the Holloway Express: “I have three cats myself and I’m so worried about this ‘cat ripper’. It’s sickening. Last year my cat was poisoned and hearing about this has made me genuinely scared, especially as it’s happening so close to me.”

The attacker is still unknown, though a reward of £5,000 has been put forward by animal protection charity, PETA, for any leads that may help the investigation.

Link between animal cruelty and psychological problems

Actor Martin Clunes has weighed in on the attacks by urging the Scotland Yard to find the cat killer. It was highlighted in his letter the connection between animal cruelty and further deep mental disturbance and potential crimes.

“Research into psychology and criminology shows that people who commit acts of cruelty to animals don’t stop there – many of them move on to their fellow humans. That is a scary thought indeed,” he said in a letter to Metropolitan Police.

It has been reported that the animals may have been lured with the use of food as it has been reported that many still had undigested chicken when found.
