Adult Learners’ Week 2012 will be running from 14 – 18 May in libraries, colleges and work places across Camden.
Adult Learners’ Week is the UK’s largest annual festival of learning, helping inspire thousands of people each year to discover how learning can change their lives.
Through events and award ceremonies, Adult Learners’ Week celebrates all learners and helps promote the benefits of all types of learning, whether you want to learn to record your own music or just learn how to make that perfect bowl of pasta.
This year many projects across the Camden Society are taking part, for one week, from Monday 14 May until Friday 18 May.
Glen Sillett, from the Camden Society, encouarges people to come along to their sessions. He said: “We make education accessible for those with learning disabilities, and provide certificates for those who participate. There are twelve participating cafes, and one of our learners won an award last year. We help encouarge people to participate in formal education by providing taster sessions to help them choose what they want to do.”
“It’s a great opportunity to get involved in some taster sessions. Our aim is to point people in the right direction. As well as teaching valuable skills, we emphasise the fun of learning.”
