London Fashion Week, which will take place on 17 – 21 February this year, is one of the most popular events in the fashion industry that showcases the most beautiful and the most outrageous womens and menswear.

As usual, London – often known as Europe’s fashion capital, although the French will differ – will host emerging and well-known designers in the fashion industry. So set your alarm to watch what could be one of the most exciting events of the fashion season.

Some people wait for these events all year – but others do not feel the same excitement.

Fashion affects us all

Razvan Nicusor does not look like a fashion fanatic. His casual outfit reflects his day-to-day job – sneakers, black skinny jeans and a shirt ensure his comfort when running errands and between viewings for properties.

The 30-year-old estate agent completes his outfit with a black puffer jacket by a high-end brand for a more balanced but sophisticated look.

“I think [fashion] is an industry that affects every one of us, and we have somehow an interest,” he said.

Even though he is not as interested in and informed about London Fashion Week as true fashionistas are, he believes that there will be surprises and that it will be an exciting event as every year.

Fashion mags still in vogue

All the way from Italy to the UK, 24-year-old fashion consumer and part-time waitress Simona Gatto has a view of two of the biggest fashion centres in the world – Milan and London. The influence of both cities is a turning point in her style. Her outfits combine the comfort of quality materials with flat shoes and staple pieces, which together hint to her knowledge of fashion.

She is not familiar with the way the fashion industry operates. However, she is interested in learning more about the latest trends and also she understands the importance of London Fashion Week for designers and fashion experts.

“I buy and read magazines once a week. It is interesting to be updated on the latest news from the fashion industry,” she said.

Magazines are a good way to get some insights and gossip from the latest events while having a cup of tea, especially after a long working day like the ones that Gatto has as a waitress.

At the beginning of February 2023, the British Fashion Council released the schedule for Fashion Week for both digital and physical editions. Garments from over 116 participating designers, 48 catwalk shows and more activities will be seen during the five-day sequence of events on the Official Digital Hub.

Razvan Nicusor supports the idea of people who are interested in fashion, have access to watch it and enjoy the event as well. Simona Gatto believes that the online streams of the events during the London Fashion Week were a good way of visiting them, especially during the pandemic a few years ago.
