After what feels like many weeks of darkness, the sun is finally out in London and it’s time to soak up some much needed vitamin D. As the weather warms up and the days grow longer, London comes alive with vibrant outdoor activities perfect for embracing the spring season.
Whether you’re a local or visiting, here are some of the best things to do in London this spring, from fun day trips to scenic picnics and historical spots.
1. Car boot sales
Car boot sales are a great way to spruce up your wardrobe after spring cleaning. These markets pop up all over London and are perfect for those looking for second-hand goods, antiques, and unique finds. Popular spots include The London Car Boot CO in Dalston and Capital Car Boot in Westminster. “I think going to a car boot sale is a good way to score a good deal. I got Acne Studio jeans for £7 pound, and they usually retail for £400-700,” said Aliyah Difia Rahma, a 22-year-old student.

2. Picnic in the parks
Pack a blanket and head to Hyde Park, Regent’s Park, or Greenwich Park for a relaxing picnic. You can enjoy the blooming flowers, vibrant green lawns, and the fresh spring air. Rachel Downey, a 24-year-old law student shared: “I love to enjoy the sun and people watch in parks.”

3. Day trips
Hop on a train and take a day trip to Brighton, just an hour’s train from London. With its famous pier and quirky shops, Brighton is perfect for a spring escape. Deb Albin, a 44-year-old primary school teacher, enjoys visiting Brighton each spring. “It reminds me of when I was younger and would visit with my family.”
Additionally, the cliffs of Dover offer a stunning walk along stark white cliffs with views across the English channel and the opportunity to explore an old castle.

4. Kenwood House, Hampstead
Kenwood House is a beautiful villa with a massive rolling lawn on the edge of Hampstead Heath. You can explore the house’s art collection, including works by Rembrandt and Vermeer, or simply enjoy the stunning grounds. Additionally, there are two cafes that offer delicious homemade cakes that are great for lunch. It also featured in the film Notting Hill!

7. Kew Gardens
For those with a love of nature, Kew Gardens is a must-see this spring. With over 50,000 plant species, it’s the perfect place to experience the beauty of springtime blooms. Explore the famous Palm House, stroll through the tranquil gardens. Lisa Hughes, a 56-year-old therapist who loves plants adores Kew Gardens for the expansive range of plants. “There’s always something new and fascinating there.”

5. Get a coffee and walk along South Bank
Walking along the South Bank in spring is a perfect way to enjoy London. With views of the London Eye and St. Paul’s, the riverside is lively with street performers, outdoor cafes, and beautiful gardens in bloom. It’s the ideal spot to relax, soak in the sights, and enjoy the fresh air.
