It’s as British as drinking tea, eating fish and chips or mumbling “sorry!” when you haven’t done anything. Talking about the weather has got to be the UK’s No 1 conversation starter.
But now Brits have a reason to not only talk about the weather – but moan about it too.
Promises of snow this week got Londoners excited with hopes for multiple snow days – but they have received rain and sleet instead.
Forecasters said that snow was due Monday to Friday but so far, there has been little evidence of pretty little white flakes falling.
The South of the UK rarely gets to see snow, so if it is forecasted, excitement certainly rises.
Londoners are experiencing icy blues reminiscing December 2022’s snowfall, which was the last time it snowed so close to Christmas. Promises of a white Christmas last year never came true.
Experts say that weather gurus accurately predict the weather only about 80 percent of the time – which means that they get it wrong at least 20 percent.
“I am not surprised that it has rained instead of the snow. It usually happens. I hate the cold but it’s not as bad if it’s snowing,” said Samuel Cooke, 29, works for TfL.
“I don’t think I would benefit from a snow day anyway,” said Cooke.
A few flurries have struck however it’s certainly not what it was expected to be. It looks like there won’t be any snowmen in the streets of London anytime soon.
This flush of winter unfortunately seems to have postponed the summer weather.
Despite the uncertainty, Londoners are still hopeful that the everchanging forecast for this week will bring a snow day or two.
